Orbit Privacy Policy
Effective July 26, 2026
The Short Version
Orbit connects you with one friend or partner and puts what you share on each other’s Home and Lock Screens. The things you create in Orbit are shared with the person you connect with — and no one else. We show no ads, we don’t track you across other apps, and we never sell your data.
1. Your Account
When you open Orbit, an account is created for you automatically using a random, anonymous identifier — no email address, phone number, or password is required. Your profile is the display name and photo you choose; your connected friend sees them, and your name travels with the invite you send.
2. What You Share With Your Friend
Orbit is a shared space for two. Depending on the features you use, the following is shared with — and only with — your connected friend: photos, notes, doodles, and emoji you publish; voice messages; game moves; shared lists; chat messages; scheduled widgets; and, if you turn those features on, your city and weather, the live distance between you, and activity metrics such as steps, workouts, activity rings, and heart rate. Anything you share can appear on your friend’s widgets, including their Lock Screen. Share only what you’re comfortable with them seeing.
3. Where Your Content Lives
Your content is stored and synced through Google Firebase, a secure cloud service that acts as our service provider. Push notifications that keep widgets fresh are delivered through Apple’s push service; they are transmitted over encrypted connections and may include a short alert, such as who sent you something.
4. Location
Location is optional. If you allow it, Orbit uses your location to show your city and weather on your friend’s widgets and to power the live distance between you. Granting “Always” access lets these stay fresh in the background. Your location is shown only to your connected friend, and you can change or revoke access anytime in iOS Settings.
5. Health & Activity
Health features are optional. If you enable them, metrics like steps, workouts, activity rings, and heart rate are read from Apple Health and shared only with your connected friend to power the widgets you chose. Your health data is never used for advertising or marketing, is never sold, and is never shared with any other third party.
6. Purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store, with RevenueCat as our service provider for managing subscription status. We never see or store your payment details — only whether your subscription is active.
7. No Ads, No Tracking
Orbit contains no advertising, does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA), and does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites. We do not sell your personal information.
8. Deleting Your Data
You’re always one tap from a clean slate. Disconnecting from your friend permanently deletes the content you shared together, for both of you. Deleting your account (Settings → Delete Account) permanently erases your profile, your content and images, and your account record from our systems. An active subscription is managed by the App Store and should be canceled separately.
9. Children
Orbit is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
Your content is transmitted over encrypted connections and access is limited to you and your connected friend. That said, no method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes appear on this page with an updated effective date, and meaningful changes will be highlighted in the app.
